GEORGE STREET

  • NO 98 –          1825-1840: Edward Boxer Mowle, later NSW pioneer, born 1807 at Dover, died unmarried 1 May 1840, at Braidwood, He arrived NSW by Princess Royal in 1825, head clerk for Buckle, Buckle, Bagster and Buchanan, shipping agents of Sydney 1825-1833, merchant at 98 George St Sydney, 1834-1835 and Sydney. Agent for Australian Agricultural Co. in 1835. Director Bank of Aust in 1835, settler at Braidwood NSW. died Unm 1 May 1840 near Braidwood. He was also known to William Richards Jnr of Walcha, NSW, the son of the contractor for the First Fleet.

  2. A property at Pitt Street South being offered for sale in 1835 – no number known – opposite the residence of I.D. Nichols, Esq. and bounded on the left by William Steward’s land. 40′ frontage. Appears to have a right of way on either side. Not located on a map as yet.
